The Atlas of Seabirds of Portugal digital platform is based on the publication Atlas of Seabirds of Portugal (Meirinho et al. 2014), developed as part of the FAME – Future of the Atlantic Marine Environment project (project no. 2009-1/089), and on the publication Sentinels of the Ocean - Distribution and environmental status of seabirds and coastal waders of Portugal (Oliveira et al. 2026), developed as part of the LIFE PanPuffinus! project (LIFE19 NAT/MT/000982).

The platform allows users to visualise the distribution of seabirds in Portugal, including the regions of Madeira and the Azores. The species covered are breeding seabirds or those with regular occurrences, and coastal waders that occur in Portugal.
